A family's move from Atyrau to the West Kazakhstan Region has turned into serious trouble for a child: the mother of a schoolboy has reported bullying and extortion at his new school, the website infohub.kz reports.

The family moved from Atyrau to a village in the West Kazakhstan Region located about 60 kilometers from Oral. After the grandfather's death, the relatives decided to settle closer to the grandmother to help her. The son continued his studies at the local school, which he entered in February 2026, but by April, according to his mother, he had begun having problems with other students.

The woman claims her son was constantly taunted, and that the situation worsened with the start of the new school year. According to her, on September 17 an 11th-grade student beat four schoolchildren at once, including her son, and demanded money from the children.

The parents did not learn about what had happened right away. The boy almost stopped eating, complained of pain in the larynx area, hearing problems and difficulty breathing, and began having panic attacks. Over two weeks his condition caused growing alarm, and the family called an ambulance twice, but the child said nothing about being beaten at school. Only later did he admit the beating to a paramedic and ask whether that could be the reason for his pain.

After the September incident, the schoolboy spent almost a week in hospital. But his discharge did not end the matter: the boy still felt intense fear about returning to school. The child is now continuing treatment, receiving psychological help and studying remotely.

Having failed to resolve the situation, the mother appealed to the Ministry of Education and the Prosecutor General's Office. The West Kazakhstan Region Police Department confirmed that an investigation is under way into the matter. Law enforcement agencies must verify the circumstances of the beating and the reports of money being extorted from schoolchildren.
