In Atyrau, a man lost an arm and a leg in a workplace accident and has been unable to secure compensation from the company for more than a year and a half, the website infohub.kz reports.
As Galymzhan Meirambek told the Almaty TV channel, the accident happened to him in January 2025. During a regular work shift, he was caught between railcars. The workplace injury left him without an arm and a leg. Since then, he can only move around in a wheelchair.
According to the victim, company management initially promised to cover all expenses and provide the necessary assistance, but later refused to honor its promises. The man is demanding appropriate compensation. He believes the accident occurred through the employer's fault due to failure to comply with safety rules at the plant.
"At a site designed for 17 railcars, they placed 25 railcars. The routes were drawn up incorrectly, safety measures were not observed, and as a result I became a Group II disabled person. Company management first gave me a firm promise: 'We won't abandon you, we'll help, we'll do everything in our power.' But so far no assistance has been provided. I buy all my prosthetics and everything else myself. How can this be?" said Meirambek Galymzhan, a resident of the city.
According to the victim's lawyer, the employer's guilt was fully proven during court hearings. However, the plant disagrees with the ruling and has filed an appeal.
"We presented all the evidence to the court for review. It was fully confirmed. The court of first instance ruled that the employer was 100 percent at fault. The other side exercised its right and, of course, filed an appeal. We are now awaiting a fair decision on that appeal," explained lawyer Nurzhanat Abuova.
Company management declined to comment on the situation. It is worth noting that before the court ruling, the investigation was conducted by the labor inspectorate. According to the inspectorate's conclusion, the worker himself also made a mistake during his shift.
"In January-February, a special commission was created and conducted an investigation. At that time, it was determined that the worker's degree of fault was 70 percent. However, by a decision of the specialized administrative court, that conclusion was overturned, and the employer was found 100 percent at fault," noted Kemel Imangaliyev, head of the Department of the Committee for State Labor Inspection for Atyrau Region.
Another court hearing is now ahead. According to Galymzhan Meirambek, he intends to fight to the end and achieve justice.
