A re-release of Avengers: Endgame met Marvel's expectations, as the film once again became the highest-grossing movie in history, surpassing Avatar. How Endgame managed to reclaim the top spot is reported by infohub.kz.

After the new run, Avengers: Endgame's global box office reached $2.925 billion, Variety reports. Avatar now sits in second place with $2.923 billion, thanks to its original release and five subsequent returns to theaters.

Avengers: Endgame first topped the highest-grossing films list in 2019. In 2021, the 2009 film Avatar reclaimed the top spot after a re-release ahead of the debut of Avatar: The Way of Water. Now Marvel has once again overtaken James Cameron's film. The re-release of Avengers: Endgame brought in over $126 million worldwide.

Disney and Marvel brought the film back to theaters ahead of the release of Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled for December. Endgame concluded Marvel's first major storyline and united heroes from 21 films released over a decade.

Doomsday is expected to be one of the year's biggest releases. Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo have returned to work on the new film.

Earlier, Kursiv LifeStyle reported that Spider-Man: Brand New Day entered the list of highest-grossing films in history. In the updated list of record-holders, it holds third place.
