After a road accident, some drivers prefer to turn to intermediaries who offer help with paperwork and obtaining insurance payouts. However, this approach may carry additional risks. Azamat Kerimbayev, Chairman of the Management Board of Freedom Insurance, told Kursiv Auto how to avoid these risks, as reported by infohub.kz.

According to Kerimbayev, an intermediary may gain access to the driver's documents and bank details, and also interact with the insurer on their own. As a result, the car owner risks losing control over the process and may not know the exact amount of the payout or the terms of payment for services. Moreover, intermediaries are not subject to the same strict oversight by the financial regulator as insurance companies.

To avoid trouble, it is safer to contact the insurance company directly. The expert recommends the following steps after an accident:

Check for injuries, turn on hazard lights, and place a warning triangle. If necessary, call an ambulance and the police.

Determine whether the European Accident Report (Europrotocol) applies. It can be used if two cars were involved, there are no injuries, the parties agree on the circumstances, and the damage does not exceed 100 MCI (432,500 tenge in 2026).

Document the accident scene: take photos of the vehicles, damage, their positions on the road, and nearby road signs.

Check the details in the claim. Errors in the date, time, location, participant information, or damage description can complicate the processing of the insurance claim.

Submit the claim to the insurer through an official digital service or other available channel and track the status of your application.

One such service is DTP.kz, which Freedom Insurance uses for processing Europrotocol claims. According to the company, filling out documents through the service takes on average 15–20 minutes, and the payout can be received within five business days.

Earlier, Kursiv Auto reported that Kazakhstani drivers were allowed to independently purchase CASCO policies.
