The XX Summer Asian Games will officially open in Japan on Saturday, September 19, with the day's competition beginning before the ceremony itself — as Kazakhstan's women's handball team takes the court, infohub.kz reports.
The opening ceremony starts at 14:00 Astana time at Paloma Mizuho Stadium in Nagoya. Judoka Yeldos Smetov and table tennis player Sarvinoz Mirkadirova will carry Kazakhstan's flag.
The day's competition will wrap up before the opening ceremony begins. On Saturday, Kazakhstan's women's handball team will be first in action. The tournament will be played in a round-robin format featuring seven teams.
