Residents of a residential building in Astana were shocked after a baby's remains were found in the sewer system. According to reports, a hotel guest gave birth in a room and disposed of the newborn in the shared sewage line, reports infohub.kz.

"One of the visitors gave birth on the toilet in a room and pushed the baby into the sewer drain (it's shared with our building). A tiny six-month-old live girl," wrote a user with the handle tatarovna_ on the social network Threads.

According to the woman, her neighbor woke her up at 3 a.m., saying a baby had been found in the sewer and asking her to come out to help the criminal investigation officers. "The officers immediately asked if we suspected any residents. We said no, it was 100% visitors," the author added.

The resident also claims that the hotel was built directly adjacent to the residential building in violation of construction codes. Every night, loud screams and noise come from open windows, heard by both adults and children. Area residents have complained for years, but the situation remains unchanged.

According to the Astana Police Department, the Almaty District Police Department has launched a pre-trial investigation regarding the discovery of the fetus in the sewer drain. Investigative and operational measures are underway, forensic examinations have been ordered, and a person involved in the criminal offense has been identified.
