Russian bailiffs have seized funds from Say Agency, which had promised to organize two performances by rapper Kanye West (YE) in St. Petersburg. The company is being ordered to pay 115,500 rubles (about 618,000 tenge), according to Vedomosti, citing data from the Federal Bailiff Service, as reported by infohub.kz.
The enforcement proceedings were initiated based on a writ of execution from the Oktyabrsky District Court of Samara.
The rapper was scheduled to perform on October 10 and 11 at Gazprom Arena. However, on September 30, the organizers announced that the concerts would not take place.
"YE's concerts in St. Petersburg will not be able to take place on the scheduled dates," Say Agency said.
The agency promised to begin refunding ticket money from October 12, with refund rules to be published later.
Ticket buyers have already filed lawsuits. By September 24, they had submitted six claims totaling 1.4 million rubles (about 7.5 million tenge). The largest came from a Moscow resident who spent 640,000 rubles (about 3.4 million tenge) on four tickets and another 64,000 rubles (about 342,000 tenge) on commission. He is seeking a penalty for the delay in refunding the money, 100,000 rubles (535,000 tenge) for moral damages, and a fine of half the amount awarded by the court.
Questions about the concerts arose even after ticket sales began. Gazprom Arena stated that it had not given consent for the performances. Say Agency insisted that it had agreed with the venue on ticket sales. In mid-September, the concert announcement disappeared from Kanye West's tour website.
