The net profit of the Banknote Factory of the National Bank of Kazakhstan (NBK) fell 27% in 2025 to 4.36 billion tenge. A year earlier, the figure stood at 5.97 billion tenge, according to the website infohub.kz.
According to the company’s financial statements, revenue dropped from 23.96 billion to 22.45 billion tenge. The main source of income remains banknote production for the NBK: revenue from banknote sales fell from 15.18 billion to 12.33 billion tenge, accounting for about 55% of the factory’s total revenue in 2025.
At the same time, sales of other non-banknote products increased. Revenue from other sales rose from 8.77 billion to 10.11 billion tenge. Despite the overall decline in revenue, cost of sales fell more sharply — from 17.97 billion to 17.21 billion tenge. However, this was not enough to maintain previous profit levels: gross profit decreased from 5.99 billion to 5.24 billion tenge.
Additional pressure on the financial result came from higher administrative expenses and increased income tax costs. As a result, the factory’s net profit for the year fell by more than 1.6 billion tenge.
The Banknote Factory is a specialized enterprise within the NBK. Besides printing tenge, it produces securities, checkbooks, excise stamps, IDs, passports, military IDs, diplomas, certificates, insurance policies and other security printed products. The plant also manufactures payment cards, strict reporting forms and printing plates.
The authorized capital of the Banknote Factory stood at 13.08 billion tenge at the end of 2025. The sole founder and state management body of the enterprise is the National Bank of Kazakhstan.
Earlier it was reported that the money supply in Kazakhstan is growing again, with businesses returning funds to deposits.
