Astana-based hockey club Barys has announced the postponement of its Kontinental Hockey League regular-season match against Nizhnekamsk's Neftekhimik due to a nationwide day of mourning declared in the country, infohub.kz reports.
The club's press service announced the decision on its official Instagram page. The game was scheduled for today, September 25, but the team's management decided to cancel it in connection with the mourning.
The decision to cancel the match was coordinated with all relevant parties, according to the statement. The new date for the meeting is September 26.
"The game will start at 13:00 Kazakhstan time. All tickets purchased for September 25 are valid for tomorrow's match," the club said.
In addition, the youth team's match has also been postponed: the Snow Bars were to play against the Siberian Snipers. That game will also take place on September 26, but at 17:00. Purchased tickets remain valid.
Recall that on September 24, during a training and combat mission, 17 servicemen were swept into the Caspian Sea due to a sudden and sharp deterioration in weather conditions and gusty winds. Three were rescued, one of whom was hospitalized. Twelve deaths were reported, and two missing persons were being searched for. Today their bodies were found, bringing the total death toll from the tragedy to 14.
