Drivers on a highway in East Kazakhstan region encountered a bear that had wandered onto the road. Witnesses reported the animal appeared emaciated, according to infohub.kz.

The incident occurred in the Markakol district, on the road between the villages of Akzhaylau and Urynkhaika. Local residents filmed the wild animal. Police and forestry officials promptly arrived at the scene.

Witnesses said the bear showed no aggression toward cars or motorcyclists. The animal seemed weak and possibly in need of assistance.

The Markakol district administration reported that staff from the Markakol forestry department and police were dispatched. Preliminary information indicates the bear moved toward mountainous terrain.

Forestry officials noted no injuries were reported and there is no threat to residents' lives or health. The situation is under control by the relevant authorities.

Regional authorities urge locals to take precautions: do not approach the wild animal, do not feed or chase it, and temporarily avoid walks in forested areas during morning and evening hours.
