Drinking beetroot juice may help reduce the risk of serious pregnancy complications by naturally improving kidney and vascular function, reports infohub.kz.
British researchers from the University of Exeter conducted a study that demonstrated the benefits of beetroot juice for pregnant women. The physiological load on a woman's body during pregnancy increases significantly, causing the kidneys to work harder and raising the risks of preeclampsia and high blood pressure.
Beetroot juice is rich in natural inorganic nitrates, which the body converts into nitric oxide. This compound dilates blood vessels, improves circulation, and normalizes blood pressure. In experiments, the researchers found that regular nitrate intake improves renal blood flow and reduces strain on the body's filtration systems.
The authors emphasize that natural beetroot juice is a safe and affordable alternative to pharmaceuticals. They hope that incorporating this product into pregnant women's diets will become a simple preventive measure against kidney disease and dangerous vascular pathologies.
