Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has instructed the transport minister and regional akimats to begin work on traffic management and congestion prevention, infohub.kz reports.
According to a report by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, he raised the issue of the strain on the country's transport infrastructure caused by rapid urbanization at a government meeting today.
He instructed the Ministry of Transport to create a unified national digital transport system. According to Bektenov, it will provide full accounting of transport assets and enable real-time traffic management, load forecasting, and early identification of potential risks.
"In large cities, we need to move from reacting to local traffic jams to systemic traffic management. This directly affects citizens' mobility, safety, and the quality of the urban environment," the report says.
Bektenov instructed the Ministry of Transport, together with akimats, to identify the most congested transport sections in major cities within two months and launch pilot application of intelligent traffic flow management there.
"Based on the results, ensure the scaling up of the most effective solutions," Olzhas Bektenov instructed.
