Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov on 28 October signed a government decree approving a plan of measures for the prevention, suppression and combating of human trafficking crimes for 2027–2029. The full text of the document was published in the national digital legal system "Adilet", infohub.kz reports.

The document provides for the introduction of a mechanism to register and monitor Kazakh citizens traveling abroad for employment. The registration and monitoring are to be introduced to prevent labor exploitation and human trafficking, according to the document. This item of the plan is scheduled for implementation in the second quarter of 2027.

The plan also calls for stepping up efforts in Kazakhstan to protect the rights of foreign citizens and labor immigrants in the country. They are to be given access to legal and social assistance and informed about their rights and protection mechanisms.

Monitoring of working and living conditions is also planned in order to prevent human trafficking. Alongside this, the government intends to introduce monitoring of the activities of private employment agencies and job-placement intermediaries, including inspections.
