At a government meeting, Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov threatened Darhan Imanashev, chairman of the board of JSC NC KazAvtoZhol, with dismissal, pointing to a number of problems in the road sector, infohub.kz reports.
After the head of the national company's report, Bektenov said that he had not mentioned a number of problematic issues. "The report is good, but there are many problematic issues that you did not mention. All the shortcomings noted by the president also apply to your work. The situation with road quality must be improved. Work, or others will work," the prime minister said.
Earlier, Kazakh President Qasym-Jomart Toqaev commented on the situation with roads in the country. "This is our Achilles' heel, and we must admit it. No one has been able to solve this problem (which is shameful in itself) or simply did not want to, and that is already sabotage. We will take measures with the full force of the law," the head of state said at the time.
After that, Olzhas Bektenov gave instructions to Transport Minister Nurlan Sauranbayev and akimats following the president's harsh criticism of roads in Kazakhstan.
