Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has ordered the completion of repair works in more than 100 schools before the start of the new academic year. The statement was made at a government meeting on August 18, reports infohub.kz.
In his speech, the head of government noted that 47 new schools will open their doors on September 1, 20 of which were built under the "Keleshek mektepteri" project. He instructed regional akimats to ensure full functional readiness of these educational institutions for the start of the school year.
"Regions need to complete the construction of another 64 schools by the end of 2026. Already now, all issues regarding their provision with teachers and educational and technical facilities must be resolved. By September 1, it is required to complete major and current repairs in 106 schools across the country," Bektenov emphasized.
The Prime Minister drew attention to the low pace of work on 13 schools in several regions, including Almaty, Abai region, Akmola region, West Kazakhstan region, and others. He instructed the akims of these regions to take personal control of completing repair works within the established deadlines.
In addition, by September 1 of this year, it is necessary to ensure the purchase of 500 subject classrooms for physics, chemistry, biology, and robotics. In total, by the end of the year, more than 1,400 special classrooms need to be installed in schools across the country. Several regions must resolve financing issues as soon as possible.
The Prime Minister also ordered to speed up all procedures for the prompt procurement of necessary equipment for the classrooms.
