Cape Verde defender Sidney Lopes Cabral's goal against Argentina has been voted the best of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, according to infohub.kz.
The 23-year-old earned the Hyundai Goal of the Tournament award for his standout strike in the round of 32 match against Argentina. FIFA noted that before the game, Lopes had planned to take a few photos with Lionel Messi, but the match turned into something bigger: he scored the tournament's finest goal.
In the voting, Lopes beat out superb efforts from Uzbekistan's Eldor Shomurodov and Haiti's Wilson Isidor, who finished second and third respectively.
