Kazakhstan's Ministry of Tourism and Sports has identified the most attractive locations for summer recreation in the vicinity of Astana. The list includes scenic canyons, national parks, and popular lake resorts, reports infohub.kz.

The Seleti River Canyon is located in the northwestern part of the Akmola Region, in the valley of the river of the same name. This spot is ideal for waterside relaxation, hiking, picnics, photo tours, and camping. Main attractions include rocky canyons and panoramic views of the river.

The Korgalzhyn Nature Reserve is situated in the Korgalzhyn District, 130 km from Astana. Visitors can birdwatch, participate in ecological excursions, photo tours, and hikes. The reserve is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and considered one of the best places in Central Asia to see pink flamingos.

The Buiratau State National Nature Park is located in the Ereymentau District, 170 km from Astana. It is one of the youngest parks in Kazakhstan.
