Bitcoin has climbed above $85,000, up from an average of $75,000 just a week ago, marking its highest level this year, according to infohub.kz.

As of September 22, 2026, the world's most popular cryptocurrency was trading at $86,000 per coin at the time of writing, according to Investing.com data. A week earlier, it was averaging $75,000.

The current level is the highest since the start of the year. Bitcoin last traded above $85,000 on January 27, 2026, after which it repeatedly slumped, especially following the outbreak of the military conflict between the United States and Iran.

At the time, experts attributed the decline partly to a notable strengthening of the dollar amid escalating tensions in the Persian Gulf, as investors preferred to buy the U.S. currency rather than invest in risky assets. In June, the cryptocurrency even fell below $60,000.

Analysts attribute the current rally to large-scale bitcoin purchases by institutional giants such as Strategy, favorable decisions by U.S. regulators allowing securities to be traded on the blockchain, and some short-term economic factors that have eased investors' inflation concerns.
