Elmira Tolegenova, the wife of blogger Yerbolat Zhanabylov, posted a video recorded from inside a closet where she hid during a conflict with her husband. According to her, he is trying to take her personal belongings and phones, and is also deleting posts on social media. Later, the blogger released additional stories in which she clarified that there was no fighting or physical abuse, infohub.kz reports.
In her first address, Tolegenova claimed that Zhanabylov and his brothers were trying to get into the room where she was.
"He is taking my personal belongings, phones. I locked myself in, I'm sitting in the closet," Elmira said.
According to her, she was using a second phone that had five percent battery left. During the recording, Tolegenova also showed her hands, calling them red.
The blogger accused her husband's relatives of manipulation. She claimed that Zhanabylov himself fears she will publicly tell what is happening in the family.
In one of her posts, Elmira wrote that she was "tired of enduring" and promised to reveal information about her husband. Later, the address, as well as other videos and photos, disappeared from her account. On social media, users called on police to check the situation.
After her first address, Elmira posted additional stories. She said fake news had begun spreading about the conflict and denied suggestions of physical violence.
"There was no physical abuse as one might think. I locked myself in the closet because Yerbolat was trying to take my second phone," Tolegenova wrote.
She also said that her grandmother died on September 27 and that she had only recently returned home. The blogger urged people not to see what happened as an attempt to attract attention.
According to Elmira, she is now at home with her children, with close people nearby. She promised to explain the situation in more detail once she recovers and calms down. Tolegenova also said she would most likely take a long break from blogging.
Earlier, the couple became defendants in a case involving the sale of online courses under the guise of prize giveaways. On April 27, a court in Astana found them guilty of illegal entrepreneurship and money laundering.
Yerbolat Zhanabylov was given a two-year suspended sentence with probation. Elmira Tolegenova was sentenced to two years in prison, with the execution of the sentence postponed for two years due to the presence of young children.
