A specialized interdistrict court for administrative offenses in Astana has sentenced a BMW driver to 10 days of administrative arrest for performing a drift on a city road. The man was found guilty of petty hooliganism, the website infohub.kz reports.
The incident occurred on September 16 at around 14:00. According to case materials, the driver deliberately sent the car into a controlled skid.
The court concluded that the driver's actions endangered road safety, disrupted public order and showed disrespect for others through demonstrative and aggressive driving.
The man fully admitted his guilt, agreed with the classification of his actions and expressed remorse. The circumstances of the offense were confirmed by a protocol, a video recording and an inspector's report.
In addition, the driver had previously been held administratively liable under Article 601 of the Administrative Offenses Code, which provides for punishment for failure to comply with road sign or marking requirements.
"Taking into account the circumstances of the case, the court imposed on T. an administrative arrest for a period of 10 days," the court said.
The case was heard under Part 1 of Article 434 of the Administrative Offenses Code — petty hooliganism. This provision provides for a fine of 20 MCI, from 20 to 60 hours of community service, or administrative arrest for a period of five to 15 days.
The court's ruling has not yet entered into legal force.
