German automaker BMW has updated the type approvals (OTTs) for the X5 and 7 Series models available in the Kazakh market. The documents contain technical specifications for specific modifications already offered by the local dealer, reports infohub.kz.
According to the new document, it covers the BMW X5 40 xDrive. The document is dated August 11, 2026, and its validity expires on August 30, 2029.
The crossover is powered by a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder gasoline engine B58B30L. Its maximum output is 294 kW (about 400 horsepower), with peak torque of 540 Nm. It also includes a 48-volt MHEV system with a 10 kW starter-generator from ZF.
The X5's dimensions in the document are 4994 x 2000 x 1751 mm, with a wheelbase of 3035 mm. Curb weight is listed at 2365 kg. The vehicle is also rated for towing a trailer up to 3,000 kg with brakes.
A separate update applies to the 7 Series, covering the BMW 740 and 740 xDrive, with validity until April 9, 2027.
Here, too, the 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder B58B30L engine is specified, producing 294 kW (about 400 hp) and 540 Nm of torque. Both variants use a 48-volt MHEV system without the ability to charge the traction battery from an external source.
The document distinguishes two modifications: 51HZ with rear-wheel drive and 61HZ with all-wheel drive. The sedan's dimensions are 5395 x 1950 x 1550 mm, with a wheelbase of 3215 mm.
Based on the documents, this is not about the introduction of entirely new BMW X5 or 7 Series in Kazakhstan. Both models are already present in the local dealer's lineup.
However, the updated OTTs provide additional technical data for specific modifications. It cannot be asserted solely on the basis of the OTTs that these exact versions are already on sale in Kazakhstan in the specified configuration. Nevertheless, the OTT updates hint at their imminent arrival.
