Kazakhstan's Nargiza Bolatova and Yasmin Tuyakova secured the country's first artistic swimming medal at the 2026 Asian Games, taking bronze in the women's duet event, infohub.kz reports.
After the technical routine, the Kazakh duo was only fourth, but in the free routine they overtook their rivals from Uzbekistan to reach the podium.
Bolatova and Tuyakova scored a total of 565.7326 points, earning bronze. China's Lin Yanjun and Xu Huiyan won gold with 640.3576 points. Japan's Moe Higa and Tomoka Sato took silver with 601.5566 points.
For Yasmin Tuyakova, this is her second Asian Games bronze in the duet event — she previously won one in Hangzhou 2022 with Arina Pushkina. Kazakhstan also finished third in the team event that year, where both Bolatova and Tuyakova competed.
One more artistic swimming medal event remains at the 2026 Asian Games. On September 27, Kazakhstan will compete in the mixed team technical routine, followed by the free routine the next day.
