Construction work at the site of the future Palace of Martial Arts in Semey has led to the discovery of human remains, taking an unexpected turn when a local woman identified them as possibly belonging to her missing father, reports infohub.kz.
Earlier, it was reported that construction of a new sports complex had begun on the territory of an old sports facility. However, during earthworks, builders stumbled upon fragments of human bones. Subsequently, one of the city's residents suggested that the remains might belong to her father, who went missing eight years ago.
Meruert Nuridenova said that shortly before his disappearance, her father had worked as a security guard at the stadium. The man did not return home after a shift, and his whereabouts have been unknown since. The discovered fragments have been sent for examination, with results expected in the coming months. Construction work at the site has been suspended during the investigation.
"When they reported that human remains had been found at this site, we immediately suspected it, because that's where my father disappeared. Now we are waiting for the results of the examination. They told us to get in touch in about a month or two. Of course, we would like to know the truth, to be able to visit my father's grave," said Meruert Nuridenova.
