In the Abai region, a nine-year-old boy decided to play a prank on his parents and hid in a utility shed in the yard of his own home. The child later called his actions a prank, reports infohub.kz.

According to the regional police department, the incident occurred in the Makanshi district. A fourth-grader left for school around 1 p.m., but after classes he did not return home. His mother searched for him on her own, and at about 8:30 p.m. she found a note near the house: “Mom, Dad, don’t look for me, I’ll come back someday.”

Relatives immediately contacted the police. Officers who arrived split into groups and began checking yards and the surrounding area. Ten minutes later, the boy came out of the utility shed in his yard. It turned out that after school he had returned home, hid there, and fell asleep. The child woke up to the sound of police car sirens.

The cold and frightened student immediately went to his mother. He explained that he wanted to play a prank on his parents. The Abai region police department urged parents to regularly remind children about safety rules and explain that such “jokes” can have serious consequences.
