Bozumbayev Retains Deputy Prime Minister Post in Kazakhstan

Kanat Bozumbayev will continue to serve as Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The corresponding decree was signed by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, as reported by infohub.kz.

According to an official statement from the Akorda presidential residence: "By decree of the Head of State, Kanat Aldabergenovich Bozumbayev has been appointed Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan."

According to the prime minister's website, Kanat Bozumbayev was born in 1969 in Almaty. He graduated from the Kazakh State Academy of Management.

He began his career in 1993 as an economist at a commercial organization. From 1994 to 1997, he served as an assistant to the akim of Almaty. In 1997, he held the position of director for economic affairs at a trade and production association and head of the regional policy department at the Ministry of Economy and Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In 1997–1998, he was head of the consolidated financial department and vice president for economic affairs at KazTransOil, the national oil transportation company. From 1998 to 2000, he served as director of the oil and gas department at the Ministry of Energy, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In 2000, he became vice minister of energy, industry, and trade. In 2001, he was appointed first vice president of KEGOC, and from 2001 to 2007, he served as its president. From 2007 to 2008, he headed the management board of Samruk, the Kazakh state assets holding company, and then in 2008–2009, he again served as chairman of the management board of KEGOC.

From 2009 to 2013, he served as akim of Zhambyl Region, and from 2013 to 2016, as akim of Pavlodar Region. In 2016–2019, he was Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. From 2019 to 2021, he was an assistant to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. From 2021 to 2022, he served as akim of Almaty Region. In 2023–2024, he was an adviser to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Since March 31, 2024, he has been Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
