A father and his two sons from Britain spent nearly a day adrift at sea after their jet ski capsized off the island of Samui in Thailand, reports infohub.kz.
The incident occurred during a holiday at the popular resort of Koh Samui. The family was riding a jet ski when a sudden wave swamped the craft, flipping it over. As a result, the man and the boys found themselves in the water without any way to quickly reach shore or call for help.
Thanks to their life jackets and mutual support, the family managed to stay afloat for about 16 hours. Throughout the night, they held together to avoid losing each other in the dark. The alarm was raised by the mother when the relatives did not return to the hotel on time.
Rescue services and the coast guard immediately launched a search-and-rescue operation involving boats. The tourists were found several kilometers from the coast and brought on board. All three were taken to a hospital showing signs of dehydration and exhaustion, but their lives are not in danger.
