Kazakhstani tennis player Alexander Bublik has confirmed that he plans to compete at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, even though the tennis tournament will start just four days after Wimbledon. This was reported by infohub.kz.
In an interview with the sports publication "Championat", Bublik admitted that the tight schedule does not bother him. "Honestly, I don't care at all. I treat the Olympics as a tribute to the country I represent. I know how important it is to Kazakhs, I know how important it is to the country I play for, and for which, in principle, I was taken to play, so that these moments happen. So it doesn't matter to me whether it's four days after the Wimbledon final or one. I will come anyway and try," the publication quotes the athlete as saying.
Recall that at the Paris Olympics, the Kazakhstan tennis team failed to win a single match. Bublik and Alexander Shevchenko were eliminated in the first round of singles, while in doubles, Bublik and Alexander Nedovyesov also lost in their opening match. Due to the withdrawal of Elena Rybakina and Yulia Putintseva for health reasons, the Kazakh team lost representation in the women's singles and mixed doubles.
