Kazakhstan's Alexander Bublik (16) cruised into the third round of the US Open with a dominant 6:3, 6:1, 6:1 victory over France's Adrian Mannarino (67) in the second round, reports infohub.kz.
The match lasted just 1 hour 20 minutes. Bublik was in complete control, particularly impressive on serve. The Kazakh fired 16 aces against three double faults, while his opponent managed just one ace.
Bublik landed 73% of his first serves and won 41 of 45 points on his first delivery (91%). Mannarino's first-serve win percentage was significantly lower at 53%.
The Kazakh also excelled in return games, winning 32 of 64 points on Mannarino's serve and converting six of 14 break points. Mannarino earned just one break point in the entire match, which he failed to convert. Overall, Bublik outpointed his opponent 82-44.
In the third round, Bublik will face the winner of the match between American Tommy Paul and Croatian Dino Prižmić.
On the previous day, Elena Rybakina and Yulia Putintseva also advanced to the second round of the US Open 2026. Rybakina defeated 17-year-old Teya Frodin in straight sets, while Putintseva came from behind to beat Belinda Bencic. Alexander Shevchenko's campaign ended with a five-set loss to Dino Prižmić.
The US Open is an annual hard-court Grand Slam tournament, the last of the four majors in the calendar year. For the second consecutive year, the tournament, which was first held in August 1881, starts a week earlier due to the rescheduling of the mixed doubles event. In the women's draw, Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka is the 2025 champion, having defeated American Amanda Anisimova 6:3, 7:6 (7:3) in the final.
