Kazakhstan's top men's singles player, Alexander Bublik, began his US Open doubles campaign with a victory, according to infohub.kz.
Partnering with China's Tsung-Hua Yang, the Kazakhstani faced Argentina's Sebastian Baez and Hungary's Fabian Marozsan in the first round. The match lasted just two sets, ending 6:2, 6:4 in favor of Bublik and Yang.
The pair spent 56 minutes on court, during which they hit one ace, committed no double faults, and converted three break points.
In the second round, Bublik and Yang will meet the winners of the match between New Zealanders Finn Reynolds and James Watt, and the Argentine-French duo of Guido Andreozzi and Manuel Guinard, who are seeded seventh.
Also starting in the US Open doubles draw is the Kazakhstani pair of Andrey Golubev and Aleksandr Nedovyesov.
Earlier, Bublik ended his singles run, losing in the third round to American Tommy Paul.
