English football club Burnley, where Kazakhstan national team striker Dastan Satpayev is on loan from London's Chelsea, has announced the appointment of a new head coach — 50-year-old Swiss specialist Fabio Celestini, the website infohub.kz reports.

The length of the contract with the new manager has not been officially disclosed. Celestini will make his debut in charge of Burnley on 31 October, when the team hosts Portsmouth in the 13th round of the Championship.

"When I look at Burnley, I see a club with great potential and truly quality players who can help us deliver the ambitions of all the fans. I know the situation we are in, and I have faced it before. Our supporters deserve to see a team playing with belief from the first whistle," Celestini said.

The specialist's most recent job was at Moscow's CSKA, with whom he won the Russian Super Cup. He left the club in May 2026. With Basel, the coach won the Swiss championship and the Swiss Cup. He also lifted another Swiss Cup at the helm of Luzern.

Celestini replaces Belgian Niki Hayen at Burnley, under whom the Clarets managed just one win in 12 Championship rounds. The team sits in the relegation zone with eight points, in 22nd place.

Dastan Satpayev is on loan at Burnley from London's Chelsea. So far this season, the Kazakhstan national team striker has yet to register a goal or an assist.
