Chinese automaker BYD is preparing to unveil its large Sealion 08 SUV, which will be available in both hybrid and electric versions. The new model will feature the second-generation Blade battery and can travel up to 900 kilometers on a single charge, according to infohub.kz.

The vehicle, part of the Ocean lineup, follows the brand's signature "oceanic" design language. It measures 5115 mm in length, 1999 mm in width, and 1800 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3030 mm. Inside, there is a central screen of about 15.6 inches and a digital instrument cluster.

For second-row passengers, a 21.4-inch ceiling-mounted display is available. The equipment also includes a Devialet audio system with 25 speakers, a refrigerator, and seats with ventilation, heating, and massage functions. Buyers will be offered five- and six-seat configurations.

The electric Sealion 08 will be offered with either one or two electric motors. Single-motor versions will produce 430 or 496 horsepower, while the dual-motor version delivers up to 784 horsepower. For the BEV, batteries with capacities of 92.1 kWh and 115.1 kWh are available. Depending on the version, the range on the Chinese CLTC cycle will be 710, 800, or up to 900 kilometers.

The hybrid version will feature a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine producing 154 horsepower and one or two electric motors. The all-electric range is 275–300 kilometers on the WLTC cycle or up to 400 kilometers on the CLTC cycle.

The Sealion 08 is built using cell-to-body (CTB) technology. Other features include the fifth-generation DM hybrid system, rear-wheel steering, DiSus-A adaptive suspension, and dual-chamber air suspension. The SUV will also come with the new second-generation Blade battery, support for fast charging, and the God's Eye 5.0 driver assistance suite.

BYD promises to reveal detailed specifications and pricing at the premiere on September 2. Earlier, it was reported that the BYD Da Han sedan with a range of 1008 kilometers has gone on sale in China.
