BYD has unveiled the production version of its new electric crossover, the Tang 8 Series, featuring a 408-hp electric motor, a claimed range of over 800 km, and a top speed of 250 km/h, reports infohub.kz.

It remains unclear whether the new model will replace the current Tang L or be sold alongside it.

In terms of dimensions, the Tang 8 Series is a large crossover: length 5,045 mm, width 1,980 mm, height up to 1,760 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,950 mm.

The crossover will be available in at least two versions: one exclusively five-seat, and another with five or seven seats.

Both variants will be equipped with BYD's second-generation Blade Battery (LFP) and a permanent-magnet synchronous electric motor (BYD TZ205QYD) producing a peak 300 kW (408 hp) and a continuous 150 kW.

Chinese media also ascribe to the crossover an ultra-fast charging system and DiSus-A air suspension with dual-chamber air springs, though BYD has not officially confirmed these features.

The new model will complicate BYD's large crossover lineup. In China, the Tang L and flagship Da Tang 9 Series are already on sale, and some are exported under the names Atto 8 and Sealion 8.

Official pricing and a sales launch date for the Tang 8 Series have not yet been announced. The crossover is expected to hit the market in the second half of 2026.
