The African Football Confederation (CAF) has called on national associations to study FIFA's controversial project to create a commercial entity, FIFA Forward Enterprise, which previously drew criticism from Europe and Asia, reports the website infohub.kz.
Earlier, the FIFA president proposed that federations support the creation of a new commercial structure, FIFA Forward Enterprise, in exchange for additional subsidies. The initiative was condemned by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF), and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
"As part of this consultation process, CAF President Patrice Motsepe will hold an executive committee meeting next week to, among other things, evaluate the proposed FIFA Forward Enterprise initiative. CAF also urges its member associations to study the FIFA Forward Enterprise proposal and participate in the consultation process in accordance with CAF and FIFA regulations and established procedures," the organization said.
CAF pledged to continue consultations and cooperation with its member associations, FIFA, other football confederations, and stakeholders in order to increase financial and other resources for the development and growth of football in Africa and worldwide.
According to the plans, starting in 2027, each of the 211 national associations could receive up to $40 million per four-year cycle under the FIFA Forward and FIFA Fast-Forward programs, and over 12 years, total payouts could reach approximately $86 million. Earlier, it was reported that FIFA's plan is to create a company to manage its main assets: the men's World Cup, women's World Cup, and Club World Cup.
