In the first half of 2026, more than 2.3 million people in Kazakhstan underwent free cancer screenings, leading to the detection of 1,837 cancer cases, most at early stages, reports infohub.kz.
The Ministry of Health reminded that the country offers three types of free cancer screenings: for early detection of breast cancer, cervical cancer, and colorectal cancer.
Over the past six months, 2,362,568 people underwent oncological examinations. The screenings confirmed 1,238 cases of breast cancer, 372 cases of colorectal cancer, and 227 cases of cervical cancer.
"From 2021 to 2025, the share of cancers detected at stages III–IV in Kazakhstan decreased from 34.9% to 32%. Over the past five years, more than 14 million people have been screened, and the annual coverage has increased by 13.5%," the statement said.
Doctors emphasize that the key rule is not to postpone preventive check-ups and to undergo screenings on time to detect cancer at an early stage.
Earlier, it was reported that in Almaty, the results of medical check-ups for the first six months of the year were summed up: over 250 cancer cases were detected among residents. Also, during an open day dedicated to early detection of skin, bone, and soft tissue sarcoma, 569 people underwent free examinations, eight of whom were found to have suspected malignant neoplasms, and another 28 had precancerous conditions.
