In the Brazilian city of Cuiabá, a group of capybaras entered the Legislative Assembly building of Mato Grosso state, causing a stir among staff just before an official vote by deputies, according to infohub.kz.
The unusual visitors calmly roamed the lobby while staff tried to shoo them outside. Employee Nayara Bueno captured the scene on video, showing the animals moving near the entrance, seemingly unfazed by the commotion.
According to Bueno, capybaras often come to the building, so staff are used to their regular visits. Authorities confirmed that the rodents caused no damage to property. The parliamentary complex borders a park inhabited by many wild animals, allowing capybaras easy access to the surrounding area.
Capybaras are the largest rodents on the planet. These semi-aquatic mammals, weighing up to 80 kilograms, live in groups and are known for their calm temperament, which has made them incredibly popular on social media.
