In Almaty region, a car crashed into the yard of a private house where a family was celebrating a birthday. The birthday woman lost her leg, reports the website infohub.kz.

Relatives said they were sitting at the festive table celebrating the 40th birthday. Suddenly, a car at high speed smashed through the gate and plowed into the yard. The impact scattered the guests in all directions. The woman whose birthday it was suffered the most severe injuries. The birthday woman was bleeding profusely, and her leg was shattered.

"She lost a lot of blood and it was very hard for her to regain consciousness. She was unconscious for more than a day. A girl without a driver's license was behind the wheel. Next to her was a minor, reportedly a 14-year-old boy. According to some witnesses, the car owner was sitting in the back; according to others, he was not there," said the victim's sister.

The birthday woman was brought in critical condition. Doctors decided to amputate her left leg. "The patient had a crush injury at the level of the upper third of the shin. There was practically no viable tissue, damage to blood vessels, nerves, muscles, and bone tissue. At this stage, the patient is feeling relatively well and is receiving the necessary therapy," said Ramazan Askerov, head of the polytrauma department at Almaty Clinical Hospital No. 7.

The victim's sister also sustained injuries — she had six broken ribs.

It is reported that the alleged culprit was detained immediately after the incident. Police are now investigating all circumstances. "Preliminarily, it has been established that a 24-year-old woman, while driving, lost control and struck two pedestrians. The suspect has been placed in a temporary detention facility. The Karasai District Police Department is conducting a pre-trial investigation into the incident," said Nuskabek Zaulanbayev, head of the Karasai District Police Department in Almaty region.

According to relatives, the woman had been preparing for IVF for over a year and dreamed of becoming a mother. Now those plans will have to be postponed. The family is demanding an objective investigation.
