A car inspection expert in Karaganda named Dmitry saved a client from buying a used Kia Sportage crossover with hidden defects. During the inspection, the specialist discovered secondary paint on the hood, signs of a rear impact, and a rolled-back odometer, after which he convinced the buyer to cancel the deal, reports the website infohub.kz.
In a video posted on social media, the car seller insisted that the vehicle was "really good" and accused the inspector of slander. However, the use of a thickness gauge and diagnostic scanner confirmed the seller's dishonesty. The video author also noted the price: the owner was asking 11 million tenge for the damaged 2023 Kia Sportage, while a new similar model costs about 12 million. "It'd be different if it cost 9 million," the expert remarked. The seller retorted: "Where will you find one for 9 million? For that price, you'll find only a 2017 model. Don't talk nonsense. You're deliberately badmouthing the car."
In the end, the client refused to buy. "They're selling junk at sky-high prices and then wonder why the market is stagnant," Dmitry commented. Earlier, the publication 'Kursiv Avto' reported on which used cars are being sold in Almaty in the summer of 2026, and in Kyrgyzstan, deputies are proposing fines for odometer tampering.
