The bodies of two more servicemen who went missing during military exercises in the Mangystau Region have been found in the Caspian Sea. The Defense Ministry confirmed the information, according to infohub.kz.

Search and rescue operations continued throughout the night. The death toll from the incident has now reached 14. The search operation has been completed.

"Today, September 25, at around 09:15, during continuous search and rescue efforts, the bodies of two previously missing servicemen — Sergeant Mansur Gumarov and Seaman Miras Turdybekuly — were found," the statement said.

A single operator has been designated in the Mangystau Region to collect aid for the families of the servicemen who died in the Caspian Sea. The public association "Ulttyq Rukh" was appointed for this role.

The akimat explained that a unified mechanism was created due to the large number of people wishing to help the families of the deceased and to prevent fraud. All collected funds will be directed exclusively to the families of the servicemen, and their spending will be monitored by government and law enforcement agencies.

Residents were urged not to transfer money to personal cards or unknown accounts.

The tragedy occurred on September 24 during the performance of combat training tasks by the Naval Forces in the Caspian Sea. Due to a sudden storm and gusty winds, 17 servicemen were swept into the open sea.

As a result of the incident, 12 people died, three were rescued (one of them hospitalized), and the search for two others continued.

A government commission headed by Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev has been created to determine the causes of the emergency. A criminal case initiated under articles on negligence and violation of navigation rules is under special supervision by the Prosecutor General's Office.

In connection with the deaths of the soldiers, President Qasym-Jomart Toqaev declared September 25 a day of national mourning in Kazakhstan.

Earlier, Kursiv wrote that the search for servicemen continues in the Caspian Sea. Hundreds of people and dozens of units of special equipment were involved in the operation.

The Prosecutor General's Office reported that 30 servicemen were interrogated and a circle of suspects was established.
