The second matchday of the opening round of the 2026/27 Champions League wrapped up with a flurry of goals: 25 in six games, including two braces and two hat-tricks. The standout performances came in Barcelona and Paris, where the hosts put on a goal fest, reports infohub.kz.
At Camp Nou, Barcelona thrashed Feyenoord 5-1. Brazilian forward Raphinha scored twice, finding the net in the 3rd and 57th minutes. Also on target for the Blaugrana were German Karim Adeyemi (22nd minute), Lamine Yamal, who curled in a stunning free-kick (77th), and compatriot Gabriel Jesus (83rd). The visitors' lone goal came from Stein (82nd).
In Paris, PSG dismantled Slovan Bratislava 6-1. Spanish striker Ferran Torres netted a hat-trick, scoring three in a row from the 31st to the 57th minute. Ousmane Dembélé had earlier struck twice (17th and 23rd). Fabián Ruiz made it a tennis score in the 87th minute. The visitors' consolation came from Camara (58th).
Elsewhere, Liverpool came from behind to beat Atlético Madrid 2-1. After Marcos Llorente's opener (17th), the Merseysiders replied with goals from Dominik Szoboszlai (40th) and Alexis Mac Allister (50th).
Arsenal, last season's finalists, edged Napoli 1-0 in Naples, with Martin Ødegaard scoring the only goal in the 75th minute.
Stuttgart and Sporting both won 3-1. The German side beat Norway's Viking, with Bosnian Ermedin Demirović netting all three (20th, 26th, 32nd). Sporting Lisbon overcame Galatasaray thanks to goals from Catamo (27th), Suárez (57th pen), and Salazar (63rd), with the visitors' only goal being an own goal by Inácio (5th).
The opening round of the Champions League, which began the day before, concludes tomorrow. In the league phase, each of the 36 teams plays eight matches against different opponents. The top eight in the overall standings advance directly to the round of 16. Teams ranked 9th to 24th will enter the play-offs, with those placed 9th to 16th seeded. The rest are eliminated.
Kazakhstan's Kairat, who featured in the Champions League last season, failed to qualify for the main tournament this time. Rafael Urazbakhtin's side will start their Conference League campaign with an away match against Riga on October 15.
