Chelsea cruised to a 3-0 victory over AC Milan in an exhibition match in Jakarta, while 17-year-old Kazakh forward Dastan Satpayev spent the entire game on the bench, reports infohub.kz.
With each match of the Australia-Asia tour, Chelsea's lineup is getting closer to optimal. Spanish coach Xabi Alonso is gradually testing formations and combinations, selecting 25 players from a squad of 41. AC Milan finds itself in a similar situation, though on a smaller scale, with 40-year-old Luka Modric appearing for the first time in the new season. The Croatian veteran was, of course, given the captain's armband.
Historically, AC Milan has been a favorable opponent for Chelsea: the Londoners have won seven matches across various tournaments and statuses, while their opponents have won only two. Moreover, the last five encounters have ended in Chelsea's favor with an aggregate score of 14:2. The streak continued in the Indonesian capital.
Friendly match, August 8, Jakarta. Chelsea (London, England) - AC Milan (Italy) - 3:0 (1:0). Goals: Joao Pedro 45+2 (1:0), Joao Pedro 46 (2:0), Caicedo 51 (3:0).
In the left wing position, which was assigned to Satpayev in the first game, Marco Palestra started against Milan. The Italian won a corner in stoppage time of the first half, from which the English side opened the scoring. Ecuadorian Moises Caicedo took the set piece, and Brazilian Joao Pedro outjumped the defender to make it 1-0. He doubled the lead early in the second half after a cross from Portuguese Pedro Neto.
Five minutes later, the English side scored again from a corner, also from the left flank. Belgian Romeo Lavia delivered, and Chelsea captain Caicedo added a goal to his assist - 3:0.
Despite Chelsea's total dominance, Xabi Alonso was in no hurry to make mass substitutions, seemingly to solidify the desired game pattern. They came only in the final five minutes. Satpayev, unlike Mykhailo Mudryk, was not among the substitutes brought on.
In the first match of the tour, Chelsea beat Australian club Western Sydney Wanderers 6-4. Satpayev opened the scoring in that match and also opened his goal account for the Club World Cup champions.
The Blues lost the second game 1-2 to Tottenham in the London derby. The Kazakh newcomer came on in the second half but made no significant impact. In the match against Juventus (0-1), Dastan also had limited playing time. His only shot on goal did not trouble the Turin side.
Chelsea's Australia-Asia tour concludes tomorrow with a match against Malaysia's Johor Darul Ta'zim. On August 15, the Blues will play a friendly against Real Sociedad in London. On August 24, Chelsea will start the 2026 English Premier League season with an away match against Fulham.
Satpayev's transfer from Kairat to Chelsea was announced in February 2025. The deal, including bonuses, was valued at €4.3 million. Before leaving for England, the young forward played 58 matches for the Almaty club, scoring 26 goals and providing ten assists.
On August 12, three days before the match against the Basques, Satpayev will turn 18. After that, Dastan will be able to sign a full contract with his new club and participate in official matches. Unless, of course, he is loaned out to gain experience.
