American singer Cher has filed new court documents alleging that her son's wife is pursuing money and fame at his expense, reports infohub.kz.

In the ongoing custody battle over her 49-year-old son, the 80-year-old artist harshly criticized her daughter-in-law, Marieangela King. In the filings, Cher claims that King is actively obstructing treatment for his severe drug addiction and mental health issues.

According to the singer, King is trying to block the guardianship purely for personal gain. The pop icon noted that her daughter-in-law seeks direct access to Elijah's trust fund, which he inherited from his father, musician Gregg Allman. Cher believes that King has repeatedly removed her husband from rehabilitation centers against medical advice.

Cher's lawyers emphasized that she is acting out of maternal love and a desire to save her child's life. King has previously denied all allegations, claiming that Cher is trying to control her adult son's life. The next court hearing on the appointment of a temporary guardian is expected to take place soon.
