A boy remains in intensive care in the Mangystau Region after being poisoned by smoked fish. Doctors describe his condition as serious and are continuing treatment, infohub.kz reports.
The child is under the care of specialists at a multidisciplinary children's hospital. After being admitted, he was diagnosed with a severe form of botulism and infectious-toxic shock. The young patient was given anti-botulinum serum.
According to specialists, a consultation is held daily, and teleconsultations with doctors from other regions of the country have also been arranged.
"The child was admitted to us with a severe form of botulism, in a state of infectious-toxic shock. He was unconscious, with no reflexes. He was urgently hospitalized in the intensive care unit and placed on a ventilator. The child is currently receiving all the necessary treatment," said Aliya Ishimova, deputy director of the multidisciplinary children's hospital.
An intensive care specialist, an infectious disease specialist and a neurologist have been called in from Astana. The situation is under the personal supervision of the head of the region.
"Our doctors are doing everything possible. They are in online consultation with specialists from Astana. The parents asked for doctors from the capital to come and examine the child. And the infectious disease specialist and the intensive care specialist are due to fly to Aktau in the near future. The doctors are already on their way here," said Nurdaulet Kilybai, akim of the Mangystau Region.
