In the Ulytau region, 22 individuals who owed child support have been found spending money on betting platforms instead of paying for their children, according to infohub.kz.
Data from the official Telegram channel of Kazakhstan's General Prosecutor's Office shows that despite failing to meet parental obligations and accumulating alimony debts, residents of the region funded gaming accounts, placed bets, and collected winnings.
For example, one debtor with an alimony debt of 3.9 million tenge had been registered with a bookmaker since 2020. Over that period, he deposited 4.6 million tenge into his personal account and received winnings of 3.1 million tenge, while never sending funds for his children's support.
Pre-trial investigations have been launched under Article 139 of the Criminal Code (evasion of payment of funds for child maintenance).
