Starting September 15, China will introduce new entry rules for foreign nationals that could make it harder to obtain visas and residence permits. Applicants will now have to undergo more thorough checks, according to infohub.kz.
Under the new requirements, foreigners applying for Chinese visas, entry, stay, or residence permits must provide accurate information and cooperate with checks on their identity and purpose of travel.
Authorities will be able to deny entry to those who submit false documents or misleading information. Denial also awaits individuals who have faced criminal charges for obstructing border control or have received administrative penalties for fraudulently obtaining documents or illegal entry or exit.
The new rules also apply to foreigners included on lists of individuals and organizations subject to restrictive measures in China.
The changes will not only affect incoming visitors but also Chinese citizens themselves: they will face stricter scrutiny of the grounds for traveling abroad, and those providing false information may be denied document processing or exit.
Additionally, authorities plan to strengthen control over travel to high-risk countries. To this end, warnings will be published about military conflicts, natural disasters, outbreaks of infectious diseases, and other threats.
The new rules will take effect on September 15, 2026. They aim to improve the exit-entry system and protect national security and the legitimate rights of international travelers.
