China-linked company GES Myrzatai plans to build a high-voltage line in 2027 to connect the first phase of a 50 MW combined-cycle gas turbine power plant in the village of Aishabibi, Zhambyl region, to the Zhambyl substation of KEGOC, reports infohub.kz.
According to the company's statement of intended activities, the approximate start of work is planned for the first or second quarter of 2027, with construction lasting 3-5 months, and completion expected in the third or fourth quarter of 2027. GES Myrzatai does not specify the completion timeline for the power plant itself.
The document, available to Kursiv, states: "The developed working project 'Construction of a 210 MW combined-cycle gas turbine power plant in the village of Aishabibi, Zhambyl region. First phase of construction (50 MW gas turbine + 20 MW steam turbine). Second phase of construction (100 MW gas turbine + 40 MW steam turbine)... Approximate start of work – Q1-Q2 2027. Construction duration – 3-5 months. Approximate completion date – Q3-Q4 2027."
For the first phase of the power plant, the company has already received an environmental screening assessment. The second phase is still in the early development stage, the company clarified. Details on the construction of the power plant itself will be presented in a separate project. Logically, the connection to the power grid should occur around the same time as the launch of the first phase, as it is a necessary condition for selling the generated electricity.
Co-owners of GES Myrzatai are Kazakh Nantian Energy Limited, a private company registered in the Astana International Financial Centre (its sole owner is Auspicious Fly International Trade Co., Limited, registered in Hong Kong), and Serzhan Alimov. The head of GES Myrzatai and Kazakh Nantian Energy Limited is Hou Chuanchun.
On November 17, 2025, the akimat of the Zhambyl region announced the start of construction of a 50 MW combined-cycle gas turbine power plant. A symbolic capsule laying ceremony was held with the participation of the region's akim, Yerbol Karashukeev. The total investment in the project was then estimated at $60 million – the plant was expected to be built in the village of Auliekol, Zhambyl district.
The implementation involved two stages: the first was to build a 50 MW plant, and the second to increase its capacity by 150 MW, bringing the total capacity to 200 MW. For comparison, the largest energy facility in the region – Zhambyl GRES – has a capacity of 1107 MW.
The company has received a 7-hectare land plot, identified a general contractor, and obtained technical conditions for connecting the future power plant to gas. During the construction phase, 500 people will be employed, and after the plant's launch, 80 people.
