Chinese engineers have developed a device that uses a laser to kill mosquitoes indoors. The first batch of the Photon Matrix gadget will be delivered to customers at the end of August, according to infohub.kz.
The Photon Matrix is equipped with a lidar, a millimeter-wave radar, and an AI-powered camera. The system tracks flying insects, determines their coordinates, and directs a laser beam at them. Thus, a person only has to watch as a miniature air defense system battles the bloodsuckers.
The company has already started production and opened an online store. Customers can choose between infrared and blue laser versions.
However, the device's effectiveness in real-world conditions has not yet been confirmed by independent tests. The manufacturer promises to reveal safety details later.
Social media users have expressed concerns that the laser might mistakenly target a cat, a dog, or the owner himself. The developers will need to prove that the system can distinguish mosquitoes from other objects.
Earlier, it was reported that drones were used to combat mosquitoes in Atyrau.
