In the city of Cali, rescuers pulled a two-month-old baby and his father from the rubble after a devastating earthquake, according to infohub.kz.
The rescue operation in Colombia continues. The baby and his father were found and extracted from the debris, but the fate of the baby's mother and uncle remains unknown, as reported by RIA Novosti, citing a translation of Noticias Caracol's publication.
"Residents of Cali pull a baby... and his father from the rubble," the publication said. According to the TV channel, the two-month-old infant and his father were taken to a medical facility. Both are currently in stable condition.
"The child's mother is still listed as missing, as is his uncle," the channel added.
Earlier, a state of disaster was declared in Colombia following the destructive earthquake. As a reminder, on August 10, a strong earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4 struck Colombia. That evening, 30 deaths were reported.
As of the morning of August 11, at least 132 people had died, and 570 were injured. The government declared a national state of emergency and sent troops to the affected area.
Also yesterday, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev sent a telegram of condolences to the President of Colombia over the numerous casualties from the earthquake.
Today, August 12, it became known that the death toll has exceeded 200.
