In Almaty, an unusual multicolored road marking has appeared in front of the Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theater named after Abai (formerly GATOB). The section of Panfilov Street is now adorned with large geometric shapes in blue, green, red, and yellow, reports infohub.kz.
As it turned out, the painted area represents a so-called "safety island," designed to allow pedestrians to stop in the middle of the road and wait for cars to pass. The Department of Traffic Organization and Passenger Transport explained that the bright marking is intended to attract the attention of drivers and pedestrians, helping them to better navigate and be more careful when approaching the roadway.

It is not yet known whether other similar colored sections will appear in the city. However, the new marking already stands out noticeably against the usual gray asphalt and looks quite striking.
Earlier it was reported that an experimental section with road marking that glows in the dark appeared on the Astana-Korgalzhyn highway. The project was launched by KazAvtoZhol.
