Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor has said he underwent successful surgery on his leg following a recent injury, according to infohub.kz.
The mixed martial arts star wrote on his Instagram stories: "The surgery went great. I'm confident in my abilities."
McGregor limited himself to a text message and did not attach any photos or videos to confirm his words.
Recall that the Irish fighter recently returned to the octagon after a long layoff due to injury. Conor and Max Holloway headlined UFC 329, which became the highest-grossing event in the promotion's history. For McGregor, it was his first fight in five years. He started with a jumping strike attempt but injured his leg upon landing.
Later, the Irishman lost his balance several times. At the 69th second, the referee stopped the fight and ruled it a technical knockout.
Soon after, Conor McGregor made his first statement following the injury in the rematch with American Max Holloway. He also announced plans to have his last fight under his UFC contract.
It turned out that the former champion had suffered a serious injury. According to him, he is again sidelined for a long time — the Irishman estimated that recovery would take a year.
