In Aktobe, a conscript claims he was subjected to violence by sergeants. A pre-trial investigation has been launched into the incident, according to the website infohub.kz.
As reported by Lada.kz, a resident of Aktau, Guldana Ketibaeva, said her 18-year-old son was drafted on July 3 of this year and is currently serving in military unit No. 6655 of the National Guard in Aktobe.
According to the woman, on September 4 she received a call from a hospital in Aktobe informing her that her son had been there for three days. Initially, he was examined by a urologist, but tests revealed no infections. After that, a traumatologist was called in, who, as Guldana Ketibaeva claims, linked the bladder issues to a sustained injury.
After speaking with the doctor, the young man told his mother that he had been periodically beaten in the unit. The traumatologist, after listening to the serviceman, called the police. The soldier filed a statement. Later, during a video call with his mother while at the police station, he stated that he was beaten by a senior sergeant and two other sergeants.
A NUR.KZ correspondent sent a request to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In response, the regional command "Batys" of the National Guard of Kazakhstan reported that a pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Aktobe department of the Western Regional Military Investigation Department. All circumstances of the incident are currently being established. Based on the results of a comprehensive and objective review, a corresponding legal assessment will be provided.
